Model vehicle tires for Tamiya with Replikator Model Corporation branding on a warehouse background.

Give your Vietnam or Cold War era soft-skins a critical upgrade with this 1/35 scale resin replacement wheel set. Designed specifically to replace the rubber or plastic tires found in the classic Tamiya M151A2 kits, these wheels add weight and gravity to the vehicle's appearance.

  • Realistic "Loaded" Effect: The M151 was a small vehicle often tasked with carrying heavy loads—from recoilless rifles and TOW missiles to radios and rucksacks. These wheels feature a distinct "bulge" and flattened bottom, simulating the vehicle's suspension compressing under the weight of a combat load.

  • 4 Unique Rotations: To prevent the model from looking toy-like, the set includes 4 road wheels, each cast at a different rotation. This ensures that sidewall details, valve stems, and tread imperfections do not align perfectly, creating a natural, candid look.

  • Spare Included: The set comes with one unweighted spare tire (round, no bulge), perfectly suited for mounting on the rear panel carrier.

  • Direct Replacement: Engineered to fit the Tamiya M151A2 axle stubs, offering a vast improvement in tread definition and sidewall detail over the standard kit parts.

The M151 "MUTT"

The M151 Military Utility Tactical Truck (MUTT) was the successor to the Korean War-era M38A1 and the spiritual grandson of the WWII Jeep. Developed by Ford, it utilized a unibody (monocoque) design rather than the traditional body-on-frame construction, offering more ground clearance and a lower profile.

  • The A2 Upgrade: While the early M151s were notorious for rollover accidents due to their swing-axle rear suspension, the M151A2 (introduced in 1968) featured a redesigned semi-trailing arm rear suspension that significantly improved stability and safety.

  • Service History: The M151A2 saw extensive service with the US military and allies from the Vietnam War through the Cold War, including operations in Grenada, Panama, and Beirut. It remained the primary light utility vehicle until it was phased out in favor of the HMMWV (Humvee) in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
