Model figures of Italian infantry from World War II with Replikator Model Corporation branding.

Bring the unique history of the Mediterranean and Eastern Front theaters to life with this 1/35 scale 3D printed figure set. This duo represents the Royal Italian Army (Regio Esercito), featuring a commanding officer and an elite infantryman, likely from a Bersaglieri unit, rendered with exceptional historical fidelity.

  • Commanding Presence: The officer figure is depicted in a calm, observational stance, holding binoculars in one hand while the other rests on his hip. He wears the sharp, tailored tunic and breeches of a commissioned officer, complete with high riding boots and a "bustina" side cap.

  • Elite Infantry Detail: The soldier figure captures the iconic look of Italy's elite troops. He stands ready with a Carcano rifle slung over his shoulder and is distinguished by the famous plumage attached to his M33 steel helmet.

  • Authentic Equipment: Every strap and pouch is meticulously sculpted, from the officer’s Sam Browne belt and holster to the soldier’s ammunition pouches, canteen, and puttees (leg wraps).

  • High-Definition Printing: Produced in premium resin, these figures capture the texture of the wool uniforms and the intricate details of facial features that mass-produced plastic kits often miss.

The Royal Italian Army (Regio Esercito) in WWII

The Regio Esercito was one of the major combatants of the Second World War, fighting across diverse and punishing environments ranging from the scorching deserts of North Africa to the frozen steppes of the Soviet Union and the mountains of the Balkans.

  • A Global Footprint: Italian forces were heavily engaged in the Mediterranean theater, fighting the British in Libya and Egypt, as well as participating in the invasion of Greece and Yugoslavia. An expeditionary corps (CSIR, later ARMIR) also fought alongside German forces on the Eastern Front.

  • Bravery Amidst Adversity: While often hampered by outdated equipment, insufficient industrial backing, and strategic missteps by high command, the individual Italian soldier was frequently noted for his courage and resilience, particularly in elite units like the Folgore (Paratroopers), Alpini (Mountain Troops), and Bersaglieri.

Italian Infantry and Gear

The Italian infantryman of the 1940s possessed a distinctive silhouette defined by the "Grigio-Verde" (Grey-Green) uniform and unique regimental traditions.

  • Uniforms: The standard field uniform consisted of a wool tunic and pantaloons, often worn with puttees or high socks. Officers typically wore tailored versions with high leather boots.

  • Headgear & Feathers: The M33 steel helmet was excellent for its time. A defining feature of the Bersaglieri—Italy's high-mobility light infantry—was the tradition of wearing black capercaillie feathers on their helmets, a detail clearly represented in this figure set.

  • Weaponry: The standard service rifle was the Carcano M91, chambered in 6.5mm, which the soldier figure carries. Officers were typically issued Beretta M1934 pistols.

  • Field Gear: Soldiers carried a leather belt system with twin ammunition pouches (often resembling small boxes), a bayonet, and a signature aluminum canteen, all of which are accurately modeled on the soldier figure.
