  • Universal Commonwealth Service: While the box art highlights the RAF and RCAF, the uniforms and flying gear depicted were standard issue across the British Empire. This set is historically accurate for depicting personnel of the RAAF (Australia), RNZAF (New Zealand), or SAAF (South Africa)—simply paint the appropriate shoulder flashes to match your specific squadron.

  • Three Distinct Figures:

    • The Dog Handler: A pilot stands holding a spaniel mascot in his arms—a classic image of squadron life. He is dressed in standard service battle dress with a "Mae West" (1941 Pattern) life preserver and wears a soft leather Type B/C flying helmet with goggles resting on his forehead.

    • The Veteran Ace: A standing pilot relaxes with a cigarette, wearing the iconic, heavy sheepskin Irvin flying jacket and fleece-lined 1936 Pattern flying boots. He wears a Field Service Cap (wedge cap) at a jaunty angle, representing the casual swagger of a seasoned flyer.

Life at Dispersal

Between the adrenaline of combat missions, pilots spent hours at dispersal huts waiting for the scramble bell.
