Model vehicle tires for Trumpeter, labeled 'Replikator Model Corporation' with scale information.

Modernize your Canadian peacekeeping armor builds with this 1/35 scale resin replacement wheel set. Specifically designed for the "Late" period AVGP fleet (1990s-2000s), this set features the aggressive Michelin XML tire pattern that became standard on vehicles deployed to Bosnia and utilized domestically in the later years of service.

  • Heavy "Combat" Stance: By the 1990s, AVGPs were often fitted with additional belly armor and turret shields, increasing their weight. These resin wheels feature a realistic "bulge" and flattened bottom, perfectly simulating a heavy 6x6 vehicle sitting on the tarmac or hard-packed ground.

  • 6 Unique Rotations: To eliminate the artificial look of identical tires, this set provides 6 road wheels, each cast at a different rotation. The aggressive tread blocks and sidewall details are oriented differently on every wheel for a natural, organic appearance.

  • Complete Kit: Includes two unweighted spare tires (no bulge). These are essential for detailing the rear stowage racks or hull mounts, which were frequently utilized as the vehicles aged.

  • Late Configuration: Essential for accurate modeling of AVGPs serving in the UNPROFOR (Bosnia), KFOR, or IFOR missions, where the original early tires were replaced with these modern, run-flat capable designs.

The AVGP: The Late Service Years

The AVGP (Armoured Vehicle General Purpose) fleet, based on the 6x6 MOWAG Piranha I, served Canada for nearly three decades. While the fleet entered service in 1976, the "Late" period (1990s onwards) saw significant changes to the Cougar, Grizzly, and Husky.

  • The Balkan Missions: During the intense peacekeeping missions in the former Yugoslavia, the AVGP fleet was pushed to its limits. Vehicles often had their marine propulsion systems (propellers) removed and were fitted with add-on armor packages to counter increased threats.

  • Upgraded Mobility: To handle the rough terrain of the Balkans and the increased vehicle weight, the original tires were swapped for the more durable and aggressive Michelin XML tires represented in this set.

  • The Variants:

    • Cougar: Tank trainer and fire support vehicle (76mm gun).

    • Grizzly: Infantry Section Carrier (APC).

    • Husky: Recovery and repair vehicle.

Recommended for: 1/35 Trumpeter AVGP kits (specifically for late-era/UN white or NATO green builds).
